Nattuvanar Kandappa Pillai; trained in music under Jayammal, Vina Dhanam(grandmother),
Tenmattam Varadachari; studied abhinaya with Mylapore Gauri Amma; improvisation
withChinnayya Naidu.
1927/8 debut in kanchipuram and
madras.
1933 first of yearly concerts
at Music Academy, Madras
1936 invited by Uday Shankar to
perform in North India
1937 Rabindranath Tagore attended
concert in Benares
1943 birth of her only daughter,
lakshmi; concert tour of Ceylon
1953 opened school at Madras Music
Academy(presently maintained by her daughter)
